GE HealthCare Adds AI-Enabled LOGIQ Focus Ultrasound System

The new AI tools automate preset selection, measure ejection fraction, and guide clinicians through exams.

GE HealthCare has expanded its general imaging ultrasound portfolio with LOGIQ Focus, a new system designed to combine advanced imaging capabilities with AI-enabled automation and workflow tools.

Powered by the company’s cSound Architecture, LOGIQ Focus features speckle reduction imaging, a high-definition ultrasound display, and advanced flow visualization tools. The system supports multiple general-purpose and specialty probes, including the Vscan Air CL wireless probe, which enables cable-free scanning.

A third-party study found that 90% of participating physicians rated the system’s overall image quality as excellent. The system also performed 26% faster than a predicate device in a head-to-head comparison of abdominal scans, according to a GE HealthCare study.

Several features are designed to reduce manual tasks and improve exam consistency. Auto Preset Assistant detects the anatomy being scanned and activates the appropriate preset, potentially saving up to five clicks per exam. The company also said clinicians can spend up to 25% less time using the AI-automated tasks.

Other workflow tools include AutoEF, which automatically measures ejection fraction to help assess heart function, and Scan Assistant, which guides clinicians through examination protocols. Verisound Collab supports virtual collaboration among clinicians.

LOGIQ Focus also includes liver assessment tools, including Ultrasound-Guided Fat Fraction to evaluate liver fat burden and 2D shear wave elastography to assess tissue stiffness associated with fibrosis. The system incorporates SonoDefense, the company’s multilayer cybersecurity approach for protecting ultrasound systems and patient data.

“LOGIQ Focus builds on more than 30 years of LOGIQ innovation to deliver both, combining advanced imaging and clinician-centered AI-enabled tools that care teams rely on every day,” said Karley Yoder, CEO of Ultrasound Solutions at GE HealthCare.
